Powder Coating
Masking Tape

Green polyester masking tape tape is the powder coating industry-standard,

suitable for  400°F oven cure temperatures for up to 60 minutes.

Green polyester tape is the most-used masking tape for powder coating. The 2 mils thick polyester withstands oven temps for most curing cycles, and resists breaking when removing. This tape is designed to cut easily, adhere quickly and remove cleanly. When possible, remove while parts are still warm. If removing from cold surfaces, pull tape at a 90 degree angle for best results.

Viadon's VGT-series powder coating masking tape is a cut above many competitor's tapes, because it is American-Made . The same-day trip from manufacturer to our dock ensures fresh, USA-quality tape that will last up to 12 months without degrading in effectiveness. Just store on end in a cool, humidity-controlled location between 60F and 80F for best shelf life.

Viadon slits tape to width in-house, and die cuts powder coating tape disks to size, and offers custom-shapes die cutting as well.

See the video below to watch these processes in action, along with how Viadon slits the tape to width, die cuts it to size, and how you can get the most out of it when applying it to parts.

Parts at left are masked with both green polyester tape and silicone tapered plugs. Powder coating is being applied on a conveyor line. Hooks provide the grounding necessary for the electrostatic powder process to charge and attract powder to the part. These parts are being powder coated for medical equipment.

These parts are pre-masked and are stacked, waiting to be racked and then sent through the powder coating line for powder application. The green polyester tape masks the powder from being applied to areas that have either more critical tolerances, requires grounding surfaces, or simply cannot have a finish in a particular area.
