Masking Caps for grounding surfaces in Powder Coating, Plating, and Anodizing

Viadon's reusable Silicone Flange Caps (VFC's) are ideal for masking studs or bolts and a circular area around them, typically for grounding area protection. Protecting studs and the grounding area during high-heat finishing is critical. Our silicone flange caps eliminate the need for secondary washers by masking the circular area around the bolt, saving labor time in powder coating and e-coating lines.

Alternatively, try using them as a plug - the area around a hole can then be masked by the flange - for instance, where a washer or grounding wire might need to be. They have also been used successfully as an insulation for wire harnesses (by cutting off the tip).

The silicone material from which they are made is capable of withstanding temperatures up to 600°F / 315°C. These reusable caps also have great heat resistance.

  • Masking 101 Helpful Hints

    Silicone flange caps fit best when the ID is 2 - 4% smaller than the stud or thread they are used to mask. Look for an OD that is 2 - 5% larger when using them as a plug.

    • Can be used either as a cap or a plug.
    • The washer area provides a founding area around the base of holes and studs.
    • Ideal for use in powder coating, e-coating, plating, and anodizing.
    • Use in temperatures up to 600°F / 315°C.
