How to Size Your Masking Caps

For the best seal during the coating process, follow these industrial sizing standards:

  • As a Cap: Choose an Inside Diameter (ID) that is 2% to 5% smaller2% to 5% smaller than the stud or thread. At larger sizes, 0.015" to 0.020" may be appropriate.
  • As a Plug: Choose an Outside Diameter (OD) that is 4% to 7% larger than the hole diameter. At larger sizes, 0.015" to 0.020" may be appropriate.
