Client Needs Way to Mask Large Open Space
Client needed to mask off the open end of a metal box that required extensive tape masking for wet spray painting.

Viadon Designs a Custom Molded Part for Wet Spray Painting
Enter Viadon. We designed a custom blue silicone masking plug to fit into the open end of the box. Importantly, it had to seat well, and an open side meant that care had to be taken to keep the plug from "bulging" out of the taped portion, or buckling on the closed side where a gap could allow paint inside the box.
It's All in the Design
Viadon designed a custom part with a rounded insertion face and a hollowed-out section. This made it quick and simple to press the mask into place, and reduced the buckling that could occur. Two small "pulls" on the top make for fast removal no matter what orientation the part is in.
Even though the prior method used much less expensive tape to mask the same area, it was costly due to the labor involved from the time expenditure necessary. This new blue silicone mask sped up the masking in this area, saving time and money overall.
