• What is the maximum temperature for Intertape PG-21? Intertape PG-21 is designed to withstand oven temperatures up to 325°F (163°C) for up to 30 minutes. For best results and the cleanest removal, it is recommended to remove the tape while the part is still warm.
• Can PG-21 be used for powder coating masking? While some powder coaters have used it successfully (but only when removed very warm!) PG-21 is designed to withstand up to 325°F, and is primarily optimized for wet spray painting applications. For most powder coating processes, which often exceed 350°F-400°F, we recommend using our Green Polyester (VGT215) or Kapton Polyimide tapes for higher heat resistance.
• What makes the PG-21 adhesive unique? This tape uses a specialized pressure-sensitive rubber/resin adhesive. This provides a medium-tack "quick stick" that conforms exceptionally well to curved and irregular surfaces without lifting, ensuring sharp paint lines.
• Can I get a custom width for PG-21 masking tape? Yes! We slit all Intertape PG-21 rolls in-house. While we stock standard sizes, we can provide custom widths as narrow as 0.125" (1/8") or as wide as 28".
• Is Intertape PG-21 resistant to solvents? Yes, the crepe paper backing and adhesive system are designed to be resistant to the solvents commonly found in industrial wet spray paints, preventing bleed-through and flaking.
