Viadon stocks a full range of high temperature silicone masking caps for powder coating up to 600°F. Below is a short description of the different types of caps we carry and what situations they are best used for. Flexible, reusable, and available in the following cap type configurations:
Standard straight wall caps - Powder coating masking caps with inside diameters ranging from 0.070” up to 2.0”. Select caps are available in multiple lengths including ½”, ¾” 1” and 1.5” - choose the shortest length necessary for your needs to reduce trapped, superheated air in oven cycles. This minimizes caps "popping up" or blowing off which can produce flaws in the powder finish. The SC line of caps are designed for simple, quick capping of threaded stufs or rods on parts before powder coating for clean lines and fast removal. - Expandable caps - These are caps with a wider/upper interior dimension for most of the length of the cap, with a smaller/narrower ID “neck” at the open end. This allows a single cap to be used on a wider range of studs, pins and threads. These caps are also useful for certain irregularly shaped parts.
- Flange caps - Straight wall caps that have a large diameter flange at the bottom, perfect for creating a concentric masked area around a stud, pin or thread, often for grounding purposes. These create a perfect grounding circle at the bottom of studs.
