The best powder coating tapes

Viadon carries a range of high temperature tapes that are ideal for powder coating masking in excess of 375F. Below is a list of these products we have for sale, in order of increasing heat resistance they would encounter in your oven. These all adhere well to clean surfaces and withstand temperature up to the following maximums for 60 minutes or less:

400F high heat tapesVarious high temperature powder coating masking tapes

  • Green polyester – the #1 best seller for powder coating masking.
  • Blue polyester – thinner than the green, and a bit more conformable to curved areas.

425F high heat tape

  • Orange polyester – similar to green polyester, but has slightly greater temperature resistance, or when longer cure time is needed at lower temperature (60+ minutes @ <400F).

500F high heat tapes

  • Polyimide (like Kapton) – amber in color, available in 1 mil, 2 mils and 5 mils thicknesses. 1 mil is commonly used to cover large, open areas such as valve covers, to avoid shrinking and provide a low profile where it meets the powder.
  • Glass cloth – often used when powder coating applications require very thick coatings, up to 10, 15 or even 20 mils for items like buss bars. The fiberglass can withstand the demands of removal from under very thick, cured powder. Can also be used during media blasting.

All of the tapes above can be laminated to a release liner and then die cut into circles, squares, rectangles or custom shapes. You can also find all Viadon's high temperature masking tapes here.
